‘We are approaching ‘Marking Day’ when cattle will be released on to Minchinhampton, Rodborough & Selsley Commons. This is a traditional annual event and is part of the ecological calendar to help manage the natural beauty of the area.
I understand that the cattle will be released on 13th May.
Last year 9 cattle were killed in collisions and based on recent years several hundred cattle may be released onto the Commons so we should do our best to raise the awareness of the need for all road users to be especially careful, keeping well within the speed limit and to be extra vigilant at night. Drivers must exercise their ‘common’ sense when driving across the commons.’ Garry Handley, Road Safety
