Shop and Post Office

Woodchester Village Shop and Post Office was saved from the threat of closure when a village community group took over running the premises in September 2014. The shop is entirely staffed by volunteers, who man the shop in 2½-hour shifts and the Post Office is run by Post Mistress Pauline Woolam. There has been an increasing focus on local produce in the last four years, as well as gluten-free, eco-friendly and organic foods.

With the support of 33 shareholders and around 50 volunteers, the shop has gone from strength to strength, last year reporting a profit after tax of nearly £6,000, with charitable donations made to the Village Hall, Woodchester Endowed CofE Primary School,  St Dominic’s School, Woodchester Playgroup and Stroud Food Bank.

If you are interested in helping to support the shop, more volunteers are always wanted, either on a regular basis or to help out with the occasional shift. Contact the Manager at christian@dannemann.org or register at woodchestervillageshop.org.uk/volunteers.
