After consultation with village residents the Parish Council has decided to go ahead with the county council’s proposed move to part-night street lighting. During the spring some of the street lighting in the parish will be upgraded to allow it to be switched off for a period during the night. This scheme is being rolled out across the county and is expected to offer considerable electricity savings and reduce carbon emissions. Obviously some lights will have to be left on all night for safety reasons. The police will be carefully monitoring to ensure the change does not cause problems, and the scheme can be fine-tuned with individual upgraded lights switched back to all-night operation if necessary.
